Vision
It was a cold afternoon. It reminded her of home, a little town in the countryside, left behind not long ago, to try new life in the big city.
That park reminded her of the woods near the farm where she grew up. She used to walk between the trees, playing with the dry leaves covering the floor.
On windy days she used to seat by the tree, writing notes on pieces of paper, releasing them in the air, wondering where they would be taken by the wind and if someone would find any one. That’s when she saw him walking on the path. She hid behind the trees and watched him pass. For a moment he stopped and looked around. For some reason she didn’t want him to see her. As he continued walking she searched in her bag for some paper. Found the handout of the place she was working, got hold of a pen and wrote a note on the back of the pamphlet saying “This is the beginning of your future,” not knowing exactly why. She found it silly and crumpled the paper to throw it out when a gust of wind came about. Fast she unfolded the note and let it go with the wind. She saw it pass him and rest on the ground ahead. She noticed him chasing the paper as the wind carried it away. She never knew of anybody running after the notes she used to let go in the wind, back home. With a smile in her face she turned her back to it and went on her way to work.
She was serving the tables in the back of the pub when the door opened and a man walked in, looked around and went to the bar, got a beer and sat by a table in a corner. She observed him as he sipped the beer, observing his every movement. It was the man from the park and he had on his hand the paper she let go in the wind. She was surprised and disbelieved. Quickly recovered she went to his table and looking firmly in his eyes she said:
-I didn’t think I would be able to bring you here.
She saw him gaze at her, as if trying to find words for that moment without being able to.
-I still have 3 hours of work. Meet me outside when I leave, she said to him and went back to serving the customers.
The time passed, he drank a few more beers and he saw she had changed the working clothes and was leaving the place. He got up and went outside to meet her.
She was waiting for him in the corner and as soon as he got to her she took hold of one his arms and they started walking.
She turned to him saying - My name is Molly and fate brought you to me. I am tired of spending the night alone. -Tonight we stay together; and saying that she pulled him closer to her in a gesture of affection.
She found no complaint coming from him.
-My name is Will, he added.
They walked a few blocks, silently. An invisible understanding held them together. Loneliness had found a match.
They got to her apartment in one of the old buildings in the neighborhood. As they got inside the apartment, she closed the door, embraced him with a passionate kiss and went ahead to the bedroom.
It was a small apartment, consisting of a spacious kitchen, wash basin, a table and an old cast iron bathtub, very common in old buildings like that.
His wondering was broken by her, appearing on the bedroom door, naked, standing a hand to him.
She was young, beautiful, sensuous and hungry for love, just like him.
He left his jacket behind and went to her loving arms.
